Food - Eating Out
Nearly every village has food on offer whether a café, restaurant and/or a general grocery store. Our local shops are vital to our tiny communities and are a great place for a friendly chat. They often sell artisan produce like baked goods, honey and farm eggs (as they do at O'Leary's in Castlecove) while the shop by the Inny Tavern in Dromid has recently been bought by the Irish speaking local community! You may also see 'honesty boxes' in your travels. All the butchers are excellent - in Waterville there is Skellig Meats and in Cahersiveen there are two (Currans and Millers) as well as a fish shop (Quinlans), bakeries and a health food shop 'the Aquarium'. If you are planning on eating out, be sure to check opening times. Many places stop serving food at or before 8pm.
