Tour Details

We focus on astronomy while visiting ancient sites with archaeologist (specialist in archaeo-astronomy and petroglyphs) Aoibheann Lambe. It is our most popular tour. We meet as darkness falls in the church carpark in Castlecove (V93 X522) and visit archaeological sites which are also in the heart of the dark sky reserve. Hiking shoes are essential. At each of the sites, we stargaze if weather permits. If it is overcast, we can still teach you the star hopping technique! We also talk about the association between the sites and astronomy as well as amazing and interesting things about the stars, the planets, mythology of astronomy and nature at night. The times at which tours start varies with the time of year as darkness falls late in summer with tours starting as late as 11pm in June - it gets dark early in Winter when tours start as early as 7pm.
